We Are Equipped
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
We have all heard that famous line “do not bring a knife to a gun fight.” Or maybe you went to screw in a screw then realized you had a hammer. We have all been in a situation were the tool we had was not adequate for the task.
Each day, as humans we face powers of evil and the dark worlds with tools that are not adequate for the job. But yet we still try to battle these spirits on our own, without looking or asking for help. And we always seem to come up short and defeated.
But luckily, those who are Christ followers are not alone and have the right tool (weapon) for the job. Through Christ, we are made for more. We are able to fight powers of the dark worlds with his power. We are given divine power that can demolish strongholds (verse 4).
When it comes to spiritual warfare, we cannot do it with what the world gives us because our fight is not of this world. This is what Paul is telling his reader that nothing in their “Roman world” forged by human hands will help them. But the weapons my God has given me, are more powerful than any other. We need to rely on God in every situation to provide what we need to win the war.

Reflect
- Do you rely on your own power or God’s power?
- What strongholds in your life, do you need to let go and give to God?
Pray
God I pray that as your children, we can lay aside our human natures of doing it on our own and look to you for the answers. The fights that we are in or will be in cannot be won without you. Come into our lives and guide us through the war zone. Thanks be to God that the war is already won. But help us to not fall into the lies that are told to us everyday. Amen.
